Brooke Lynn Brewer

Executive Director

​Brooke is a Denver native and has been with the Breakthrough program since her first summer as a student in 2002. She graduated in 2008 from the Denver School of Science and Technology and earned her B.S. in Mathematics from Drury University. While in College, Brooke spent four summers as a Math Teaching Fellow, before joining the team full-time in May 2012. During Brooke’s first year with Breakthrough, she started the college readiness program, which is now a consistent aspect of what Breakthrough offers its students. She is currently working as the Program Director.

Parker Groves

College Bound Manager

Parker is a Denver native and attended both Denver Public and Douglas County Schools. He graduated from the University of Chicago in 2019 with a bachelor’s degree in Romance Languages and Literatures (Spanish) and a minor in Creative Writing. While in college, Parker worked as a teaching assistant and a garden club director at a middle school in Chicago. He also served as a member of the leadership committee for his university’s Neighborhood Schools Program, which serves students, schools, and communities throughout the South Side. He was a Teaching Fellow at Breakthrough Kent Denver during the summer of 2018, and has returned to Breakthrough as the program’s College Bound Coordinator. He is excited to further his career in education, and provide college-bound support for Breakthrough’s incredible students and families.

Aamenah Malik

Aamenah is the new High School and Communications Coordinator at Breakthrough, bringing more than a decade of experience in education, with a focus on secondary instruction and student development. She has a strong background in supporting neurodiverse learners, with particular expertise in building executive functioning skills to help students thrive academically and personally.

Aamenah’s experience spans both K–12 and higher education settings, equipping her with a deep understanding of how to prepare students for success in college and beyond. She is excited to bring this knowledge to her work with Breakthrough’s high school students and is committed to partnering with families to support each student’s journey.

She is proud to join the Breakthrough community and looks forward to a meaningful year ahead.
