Brooke Lynn Brewer

Executive Director

​Brooke is a Denver native and has been with the Breakthrough program since her first summer as a student in 2002. She graduated in 2008 from the Denver School of Science and Technology and earned her B.S. in Mathematics from Drury University. While in College, Brooke spent four summers as a Math Teaching Fellow, before joining the team full-time in May 2012. During Brooke’s first year with Breakthrough, she started the college readiness program, which is now a consistent aspect of what Breakthrough offers its students. She is currently working as the Program Director.

Parker Groves

College Bound Manager

Parker is a Denver native and attended both Denver Public and Douglas County Schools. He graduated from the University of Chicago in 2019 with a bachelor’s degree in Romance Languages and Literatures (Spanish) and a minor in Creative Writing. While in college, Parker worked as a teaching assistant and a garden club director at a middle school in Chicago. He also served as a member of the leadership committee for his university’s Neighborhood Schools Program, which serves students, schools, and communities throughout the South Side. He was a Teaching Fellow at Breakthrough Kent Denver during the summer of 2018, and has returned to Breakthrough as the program’s College Bound Coordinator. He is excited to further his career in education, and provide college-bound support for Breakthrough’s incredible students and families.

Naylea Contreras-Rodriguez

Communications and High School Program Coordinator

Naylea is a Denver native and has been a part of the Breakthrough program since 2011 as a student for her first summer. She is currently studying at the Community College of Denver for her Associates in Communications with plans of attending the University of Colorado Denver for her bachelor’s. Throughout her high school and college years, Naylea has had multiple roles within Breakthrough such as ‘Superhero’ and Operations Coordinator. Now, she has joined the full-time administration team as the new Communications and High School Program Coordinator.

Daniel Hernandez

Operations and Middle School Program Coordinator

Daniel is a Denver native who joined the Breakthrough Program as a student in 2012. After his time as a student, Daniel became a Teaching Fellow while still in High School and worked for multiple summers with the program. Before returning to Breakthrough, Daniel worked in schools as a Middle School Music Teacher, Elementary Reading Interventionist, and Pre-K Lead Teacher. Daniel is currently the Breakthrough Middle School Program Fellow.
