Sarah joined the Breakthrough team in January of 2016. Sarah holds a Master of International Affairs from Columbia University and a Bachelor of the Arts in Theatre from the University of Northern Colorado. Sarah’s background includes humanitarian work in Haiti and Mali, non-profit healthcare work in Colorado, and non-profit education work in Brooklyn, Harlem and Washington D.C. Sarah is a Colorado native and very happy to be back in Colorado, and working with such amazing students and teachers!
Brooke Lynn Brewer
Brooke is a Denver native and has been with the Breakthrough program since her first summer as a student in 2002. She graduated in 2008 from the Denver School of Science and Technology and earned her B.S. in Mathematics from Drury University. While in College, Brooke spent four summers as a Math Teaching Fellow, before joining the team full-time in May 2012. During Brooke’s first year with Breakthrough, she started the college readiness program, which is now a consistent aspect of what Breakthrough offers its students. She is currently working as the Program Director.
Communications & Program Coordinator
Jhasmyne is a native to Denver Colorado. She attended Denver Public Schools, graduating from George Washington High School in 2014. She then proceeded to receive her B.S. in Human Development and Family Studies with a minor in Criminal Justice from Colorado State University in Fort Collins. While attending CSU, Jhasmyne was heavily involved on campus advocating for the voices of marginalized students to not only be heard, but to be valued. Her time as a DPS student, and her undergraduate leadership experience, is what cultivated her passion for equity in education. Jhasmyne was introduced to the Breakthrough community summer of 2019 as a 7th grade dean, and now continues the transformative work as the Communications and Program Coordinator.
College Bound Coordinator
Parker is a Denver native and attended both Denver Public and Douglas County Schools. He graduated from the University of Chicago in 2019 with a bachelor’s degree in Romance Languages and Literatures (Spanish) and a minor in Creative Writing. While in college, Parker worked as a teaching assistant and a garden club director at a middle school in Chicago. He also served as a member of the leadership committee for his university’s Neighborhood Schools Program, which serves students, schools, and communities throughout the South Side. He was a Teaching Fellow at Breakthrough Kent Denver during the summer of 2018, and has returned to Breakthrough as the program’s College Bound Coordinator. He is excited to further his career in education, and provide college-bound support for Breakthrough’s incredible students and families.
