DEI STATEMENT
Breakthrough at Kent Denver’s Statement on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
Breakthrough at Kent Denver School (BKD) recognizes that present and historical systems of oppression continue to threaten the lives of communities most impacted by these systems. The mission of our organization is a commitment to and accountability for providing tools, knowledge, and resources needed to dismantle barriers, navigate educational pathways and address the opportunity gap. We are an anti-racist and inclusive organization with the desire to guide our students and families to a life of choice.
We have the privilege of serving a diverse community and embrace every constituent’s race, gender identity, class, ability, sexual orientation, religion, national heritage and more. Embracing all identities means that we are committed to taking intentional steps to ensure our staff, Scholars, Alumni, families donors and supporters know that they are valued. We hold our community accountable to inclusive and equitable practices, and the regular evaluation of our work.
We know that Diversity, Equity and Inclusion are embedded in every aspect of providing quality programming. We also know that knowledge, research and best practices are constantly evolving, and our efforts must match the changing needs of the communities we serve. To truly be an anit-racisit and social justice driven organization, we must have transparent systems for evaluation and commitments shared with all constituencies.
